“Where do you get to go?” you ask. To URBANA! InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF) holds a triennial missions conference called URBANA (it used to be in Urbana, IL) that helps students, alumni, and others explore God’s heart for missions and connect with mission agencies. Ever since I was a student and a part of IVCF I’ve wanted to go but haven’t been able to go.
2003 – God was putting missions on my heart again and I thought it would be a great opportunity to explore missions. My brother decided to get married just after Christmas, which only happens once; Urbana comes around every three years – so I went to his wedding. 🙂
2006 – I was actually serving in missions! Kind of hard to go when you’re already serving overseas.
2009 – It was my first Christmas back in the US after being gone for three years. So while I still had a desire to go, I wanted to be with family more.
2012 – Wycliffe asked me to be on the team that is going. While I might not be a student and get to go to every part of it, I still get to go and experience it. I’m so excited for this opportunity to talk with others who were like me – not sure of how they can fit but looking at how God wants them to be involved.
I fly out on Christmas day to help set up the booth and enter the cold north (Brr!). The conference starts on the 28th and ends just after midnight on the 1st. It’ll be long and I’m sure I’ll be tired by the end but I’m looking forward to see what God will do!
Now off to pack for the trip….what does a Florida girl know about cold? :-S
Congratulations!
Great news Lisa….what an incredible journey He is taking you on…love your creative way of communicating to all of us. Hugs, CDF
