Well, of sorts. I gave it up for Lent because it was the only way I could get up the courage. Lactose intolerance runs in my family and I couldn’t muster up to go without dairy for two weeks. So instead, I gave it up for 40 days! It’s a lot harder than I thought. I’m only giving up overt dairy, but I’m still reading labels.
Simple things I always use I don’t remember have diary. I was going to make Garden Stuffed Potatoes and bought all the ingredients….only to remember as I was prepping that Ranch has buttermilk. Tried mashed potatoes instead…takes milk! Thankfully I’m not counting butter. I have messed up though. Helped with an event at work and was eating the chips in my boxed lunch and all of the sudden realized they were Doritos – nacho cheese to be exact. Oops!
It’s giving me a new….can I say appreciation?….of what those who deal with allergies go through. Wow! I’m grateful that it doesn’t seem to be an issue for me. Dairy is my main food group and while I’ve adjusted to almond milk it’s Sooooo not the same.
The funny thing is, I want a pizza and frozen yogurt for Easter dinner. 🙂 Halfway through…..
