Malls, eating, and heat

I arrived in Manila, Philippines on the 23rd close to midnight. I forgot that when flying west to Asia one looses a day of their life. (“How do you feel?” Princess Bride quote opportunity) I felt tired! With only six hours of sleep I started my day of explorations.

Harry’s comment was that Filipinos like eating and shopping. In the heat, I discovered that everyone prefers A/C and that ties in well to the love for malls as everyone seems to walk through the mall to cool off while switching train lines.

I thought living in a town that now has a mall was good. I also thought a mall with two floors was big. I think I walked through at least four malls, two right next to each other, that had at least six floors each. Wow!

I’m still a bit fuzzy although I think I got 12 hours of sleep last night. I crashed without dinner as my brain and body just wanted rest. Thankfully there is a small A/C unit in my room as its quite warm here.

I also had paparazzi yesterday. Harry told me that it only happens on the first day in a new country…which means I’ll have that happen at least two to three more times. I suppose it’s good because I forgot to pull out my camera as I was just taking everything in.

I better stop writing before my thoughts get any more disjointed. I think today I’m going to a different mall to go to the supermarket (yes, supermarkets in malls) so I can do some of my own cooking. And maybe I’ll take a nap. Or visit the pool. Tomorrow is more office visits and orientation…

About Traveling Mosaic

I'm on a journey in this world, hence the "Traveling" part of the name. My life is also made up of pieces that, when the Master completes it, will be a beautiful Masterpiece, hence "Mosaic."
