Yup, that thought crossed my mind in the short break I had before the pain continued. I figured in the two and a half hours of excruciating, writhing pain with no end in sight (at the moment) giving birth had some up factors – an end to the pain and a happy result at the end. As it was, I just had to keep asking Sweet Jesus to take it away.
By the time the pain stopped, B had gotten an over-the-phone diagnosis of a kidney infection with the news that there were no good hospitals in the town we were in. Cancel our last 6+ hour bus ride with maybe only one toilet stop (which is the probable reason of the infection – a week and a half of every other day trips with no eating or drinking on the bus).
A co-worker from Tanzania came to help us out and took us to her house. Oh, we made a side stop to buy some phone credit, confirm plane tickets, and I asked for ice cream. Ok, ok, maybe not the smartest thing to eat with an infection! But, hey, ice cream makes one thirsty so I figured that was a good start to getting more water into me. 🙂
This morning was an improvement, only one and a half hours of pain. But no vice-like, spasming, writhing pain like before…just constant. intense. pain. Bearable, but when you consider I have a high pain tolerance…….I’m thinking I’ll set an alarm tonight to get up to drink so I stay hydrated and see if that helps.
So, now I’ve scared roommates on three continents with medical-ish emergencies. I really should stop that. It’s not healthy for them….or for me!
Ok, off to guzzle another liter of water and try not to float away……..and yes, I’m planning on seeing a doctor once I get home for those who need resolution. 🙂
Ohhh. May God give you mercy and healing as you drink your water and wait on Him. Elaine Bell
