Last week I was in Kampala. Out of the meetings and celebrations I had some interesting thoughts. None are really connected, but I thought I’d share.
“Nothing for us, without us.” Blind in Uganda while talking with an organization wanting to partner with them.
We must learn to love and serve in a way that others understand and accept. We must enter their culture and serve in their way, not our way and our culture.
If/since babies in the womb have souls/spirits (John the Baptist “leapt” in the womb), then did Christ spend 9 months the same? Hadn’t thought about that before….sharing in our humanity and humbling Himself as unto the “least of these.”
Lisa,
As I work in a pregnancy center now, I am constantly reminded that my culture and way of seeing life is not always the only way to view things, and certainly not the way Christ would have me see it! Thank you for this post, as I need to be constantly reminded to humble myself as He did!
